Underwriting agency insurtech Blue Zebra says its new Blue Leopard 2.0 platform update, rolled out in recent months, offers brokers up to 18 different quote combinations and tailoring of SME products.
The dynamic underwriting and question engines have been enhanced and brokerages that have networks can seamlessly access multiple branches, while an ability to tailor pricing and endorsement wordings at a scheme level boosts efficiency.
“All our brokers now use it,” Blue Zebra MD Colin Fagen tells insuranceNEWS.com.au. “Systems need to be continually and materially updated to compete and meet the expectations of both the broker and the insurer and Blue Leopard 2.0 has been built to meet this need.”
Blue Zebra has a current turnover of around $240 million and just over 40 staff, half of whom are IT specialists. Sydney-based Mr Fagen, who spent almost 18 years in senior positions at QBE, expects that to rise to $320 million by the end of June.
The scalability Blue Leopard 2.0 offers will “take us through half a billion in the near future,” he says, with offshore opportunities on the horizon.
“We are excited by the global opportunities to deliver Blue Leopard 2.0 to insurance businesses overseas,” he said.
Blue Leopard provides agencies and insurers with end-to-end policy administration system. Its template-driven architecture slashes product development lifecycles, and new products can go from concept to production within weeks.
A low code approach helps with configuring complex underwriting rules, while the platform enables multiple cover holders to participate in a single product or package.
Blue Zebra customers include Domain and Allstate Farm Insurance. Since its launch in 2018, the insurtech has constantly invested in its digital assets, adding commercial products to its offerings in recent years after initially focusing on bringing personal lines back to brokers and tapping into technology to drive efficiency.
“We are driving the intermediated market forward with our own bespoke insurtech offering using leading insurtech solutions. Unencumbered by legacy IT systems, Blue Zebra’s insurtech systems are built from scratch so they are fast and efficient,” the insurtech says.
