If you are planning to buy a Maruti, the hard part is not finding a model. It is that most “upcoming Maruti” lists mix cars that launch in a few weeks with cars that already went on sale, and EVs that are still two years away. So you end up waiting for something you could buy today, or holding out for a car that is not coming until 2028.
This page sorts that out. Below is the honest list of Maruti Suzuki cars genuinely coming to India through 2026, with expected prices, launch dates, and our straight verdict on each one: wait for it, buy now, or skip. We also flag the models that are already on sale (the e-Vitara and the Victoris) so you do not wait for a car you can drive home this week. We update this page as launch dates and prices are confirmed, so check the “last updated” note before you decide.
Prices and dates change fast, and pre-launch figures are estimates. Every “expected” number below is an estimate until Maruti confirms it at launch, and the big car portals do not even agree with each other on the dates. Confirm the on-road price and timing with the dealer before you book.
The short answer (if you are in a hurry)
- Worth waiting for, and it is basically here: the Brezza facelift launches on 23 July 2026. It is India’s best-selling compact SUV, and the update brings a new 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine, more safety kit and a fresher cabin. If you want a Brezza, it is only weeks away, so hold out for it.
- Also coming in 2026, but not urgent: the Baleno facelift (around October) and the Grand Vitara facelift (second half of the year) are styling-and-features updates, worth a short wait only if you specifically want the new kit.
- Already on sale, do not wait: the e-Vitara (Maruti’s first electric SUV) and the Victoris (its new mid-size hybrid SUV) are both out now. If either fits, there is nothing to wait for.
- Pushed back, do not hold your purchase: the much-hyped Fronx strong hybrid has slipped to 2027, and the Fronx EV (2027) and Jimny EV (2028) are further out still. Buy something now instead.
First, the honest split: real 2026 cars vs already-on-sale vs far-away
Maruti has a huge pipeline, and the portals list all of it as “upcoming” even when a car is already in showrooms or has quietly slipped to next year. Here is the clean line.
Already on sale now (nothing to wait for):
| Model | On sale since | Price (ex-showroom) | Type | Our take |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| e-Vitara | February 2026 | From ₹15.99 lakh (or ₹10.99 lakh on battery subscription) | Electric SUV | Buy now if you want a Maruti EV |
| Victoris | Late 2025 | ₹10.50 to 19.99 lakh | Hybrid / petrol / CNG SUV | Buy now, strong all-rounder |
Genuinely launching in 2026 (you can plan around these):
| Model | Expected launch | Expected price | Type | Our take |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Brezza facelift | 23 July 2026 (confirmed) | ₹8.50 to 14 lakh | Turbo-petrol / CNG SUV | Wait for it, it is days away |
| Baleno facelift | Around October 2026 | ₹6.80 to 9.50 lakh | Premium hatchback | Wait only if you want the updates |
| Grand Vitara facelift | Second half 2026 | ₹11 to 21 lakh | Hybrid / petrol SUV | Wait only if you want the updates |
Far-away cars (do not hold your purchase for these):
| Model | Realistic launch | Type | Our take |
|---|---|---|---|
| Fronx strong hybrid | 2027 (delayed from 2026) | Hybrid SUV | Slipped a year; do not wait |
| Fronx EV | Early 2027 | Electric SUV | Too far out to plan around |
| WagonR EV | 2027 | Budget electric hatchback | Wait-and-watch, not 2026 |
| Jimny EV | 2028 | Electric off-roader | A year-plus away; ignore for now |

The Maruti cars worth waiting for in 2026
Brezza facelift — the big one, and it lands this month
This is the launch most Maruti buyers care about, and the wait is nearly over: Maruti has confirmed the Brezza facelift for 23 July 2026. The Brezza is India’s best-selling sub-4-metre SUV, and this mid-life update is a real one. The headline change is a new 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine in place of the old naturally aspirated unit, along with reworked front and rear styling, new alloys, a bigger touchscreen, ventilated front seats and, importantly, Level 2 ADAS and six airbags for a much stronger safety kit. The CNG version is tipped to move to an underbody tank, like the Victoris, which frees up boot space.
Expected price is roughly ₹8.50 to 14 lakh ex-showroom, a small step up on the outgoing car for the extra kit.
Our take: if you specifically want a Brezza, wait. The launch is days away as we write this, so there is no sense buying an outgoing pre-facelift car now and feeling a step behind the moment the new one lands. The only reason to buy the current Brezza today is a genuinely steep dealer discount to clear old stock, and even then, drive the new one first. Cross-shopping the segment? Baleno and Grand Vitara facelifts — nice, not urgent
The Baleno facelift, expected around October 2026 at roughly ₹6.80 to 9.50 lakh, brings redesigned LED headlamps, a revised grille, refreshed bumpers and a larger touchscreen to Maruti’s premium hatchback, rather than a ground-up change. The Grand Vitara facelift is expected in the second half of 2026 at roughly ₹11 to 21 lakh, and it is the more interesting of the two: it is tipped to gain Level 2 ADAS, a powered tailgate, a 10.1-inch touchscreen and a panoramic sunroof, borrowing kit from the new Victoris. A three-row seven-seat Grand Vitara is also in the pipeline.
Our take: both are worth a short wait if you specifically want the updates, but neither is a reason to delay a purchase by many months. If you want a hybrid Grand Vitara feel without the wait, its new sibling the Victoris is already on sale (more below).
Already on sale: the two Marutis you do not need to wait for
A lot of “upcoming Maruti” lists still show these as coming soon. They are not. Both are in showrooms now.
- e-Vitara is Maruti’s first electric SUV, on sale since February 2026 from ₹15.99 lakh ex-showroom (up to about ₹20 lakh for the top trim), or from ₹10.99 lakh if you take Maruti’s battery-subscription plan and pay per kilometre. It uses 49 kWh or 61 kWh batteries, with a claimed range of up to 543 km on the bigger pack. If you want an electric Maruti, this is it, there is nothing newer to wait for in 2026, the Fronx EV and WagonR EV are 2027 cars. Read our full Maruti e-Vitara coverage, and see where it sits among rivals in upcoming electric cars in India 2026.
- Victoris is Maruti’s new mid-size SUV, on sale from ₹10.50 to 19.99 lakh, with petrol, strong-hybrid (a claimed 28.65 kmpl) and CNG options, Level 2 ADAS, and a five-star Bharat NCAP rating. It has been a genuine hit, crossing one lakh sales by mid-2026, and it is a sensible alternative to waiting for the Grand Vitara facelift. You can sanity-check its safety credentials in our safest cars in India guide.
The delayed and far-away cars: why you should not wait for them
Two of the most-hyped “upcoming Marutis” are no longer 2026 cars.
The Fronx strong hybrid was meant to be Maruti’s first in-house series-hybrid, chasing a headline-grabbing 30 to 35 kmpl. But it has slipped to 2027, because Maruti is struggling to package that new hybrid system into the compact Fronx. It is still an exciting car to watch, and if it hits anywhere near those mileage numbers it will shift the small-SUV running-cost maths, but it is no longer something to hold a 2026 purchase for. If mileage is your priority right now, our best hybrid cars in India guide compares the strong-hybrid options already on sale.

Maruti’s series-hybrid Fronx is chasing a claimed 35 kmpl plus, but it has slipped to 2027. Treat any pre-launch mileage figure as a claim until real-world tests are out.
The rest of Maruti’s electric wave is further out still. The Fronx EV is expected in early 2027, the budget WagonR EV around the same time, and the Jimny EV not until 2028. They are exciting, especially a potentially affordable electric WagonR, but they are too far out to plan a purchase around. If you want an electric Maruti now, the e-Vitara is already on sale. Note these for the future, do not leave yourself without a car for two years waiting for one.
Which Maruti should you wait for? (by what you need)
- You want a compact SUV: wait for the Brezza facelift, it lands on 23 July 2026. If you cannot wait even those few weeks, buy from our best SUVs under ₹10 lakh shortlist now.
- You want maximum mileage: the Fronx strong hybrid has slipped to 2027, so do not wait for it. The Victoris hybrid (a claimed 28.65 kmpl) is already on sale today.
- You want an electric Maruti: buy the e-Vitara today. The Fronx EV and WagonR EV are 2027-plus.
- You want a mid-size family SUV: the Victoris is on sale now, or wait for the Grand Vitara facelift if you prefer that badge. Need three rows? See best 7-seater cars in India.
- You want a premium hatchback: the Baleno facelift (around October) is a short wait, but the current Baleno is already a fine buy.
Buy now or wait? A simple way to decide
The honest framework, because “wait” is not always the right answer:
- Buy now if you need a car within three months and a current Maruti (Fronx, Baleno, Victoris, e-Vitara, Grand Vitara) already fits. Two of the most interesting 2026 Marutis, the e-Vitara and Victoris, are already on sale.
- Wait if you want a Brezza, because the facelift is only weeks away (23 July 2026), or if you specifically want the Baleno or Grand Vitara updates and can hold for a few months. Early on-road reviews after launch are worth more than any pre-launch spec sheet.
- Never wait for the Fronx strong hybrid, Fronx EV, WagonR EV or Jimny EV if you need a car soon. The hybrid has already slipped to 2027, and the EVs are 2027 and 2028 cars whose specs and prices change a lot before launch.

Is the Maruti Fronx strong hybrid still coming in 2026? No. The Fronx strong hybrid, Maruti’s first in-house series-hybrid, has slipped to 2027 because the new hybrid system is hard to package into the compact Fronx.
